Product Description

Designed for the most demanding high viscosity and heat sensitive formulations, Kosun's Dual Shaft Counter Rotating Mixing Tank delivers superior homogenization, efficient heat transfer, and complete batch uniformity. Unlike conventional single agitator designs, this tank is powered by two independent drive motors, each controlling a dedicated mixing element that rotates in opposite directions.
The first agitator is a heavy duty scraper anchor mixer, which rotates clockwise. Its low speed, high torque action continuously lifts product from the tank wall while spring loaded or PTFE scrapers prevent sticking and burning, especially during heating or cooling cycles. The anchor ensures that no material remains stagnant on the heated or cooled surfaces, making it ideal for viscous, sticky compounds.

Simultaneously, the second motor drives a high speed impeller mixer in the anticlockwise direction. This counter rotation creates intense hydraulic shear and turbulent flow between the two moving elements, breaking down agglomerates and rapidly blending ingredients that would otherwise resist mixing. The opposing rotational forces also eliminate the need for internal baffles, reducing dead zones and simplifying cleaning.
The synergistic action of the scraping anchor and counter rotating impeller makes this tank the preferred choice for extremely high viscosity applications. Typical products include peanut butter, chocolate, caramel, cheese sauce, creams, ointments, lotions, and suppository bases. The system handles viscosities that would cause standard mixers to stall or channel, ensuring each batch is smooth, uniform, and thermally consistent.
Built from food grade stainless steel with polished internals, Kosun's dual shaft tank is available with jacketed heating/cooling, vacuum capability, and CIP compatibility-providing a complete solution for confectionery, dairy, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries.
